FDA Issues Class II Recall for Six Hand Soaps Over Bacterial Contamination

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a multistate Class II recall involving six foaming and liquid hand soaps produced by Intercon Chemical Co., citing contamination with Pseudomonas and Serratia bacteria.

The recall, initiated June 29 and classified September 11, affects more than 2,600 cases distributed across 15 states, including North Carolina.

Recalled products include Intercon Foaming Pear Hand Soap, Clearly Better Foaming Pear Hand Soap, Summit 150 Foaming Hand Soap, Vestis Foaming Hand Soap, and two Laura Lynn soaps.

Consumers are advised to stop using and discard affected items. Contamination may cause temporary or medically reversible infections, with heightened risk for immunocompromised individuals.
