Residents and visitors urged to review surveillance footage and report any unreported incidents

HOLDEN BEACH, NC — The Holden Beach Police Department is investigating multiple vehicle break‑ins that occurred during the overnight hours of September 16‑17, 2026.

Officers responded to several reports of vehicles being unlawfully entered in various areas of Holden Beach and are working to identify those responsible.

Investigators are also determining whether additional incidents may have occurred but have not yet been reported.

The department is requesting assistance from residents and visitors.

Anyone with home security, doorbell, or other surveillance footage from the overnight hours is asked to review it for suspicious persons or vehicles. Any footage showing unusual activity may be helpful to the investigation. Individuals who discover that their vehicle, residence, storage area, or other property was unlawfully entered, or that items are missing, are urged to report the incident by calling 9-1-1.

Police are reminding the public to take simple precautions to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime. Vehicle doors, residential doors, and storage areas should be kept locked, and valuables and firearms should not be left in plain view inside vehicles.
