Dixie Lee Smith Martin — Orrum NC

She was born October 11, 1931 in Robeson County to the late Ford Smith and the late Mary Eliza Hardin Smith.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Martin, Sr.; her granddaughter, Nacolle Martin Allen; brothers, Jay Smith, George Smith, Lester Smith; sisters, Helen Lee, Doris Bullock and Ann Pittman.

Mrs. Dixie leaves to cherish memories with her children, Roy Lee Martin, Jr. (Kathy), Larry Martin (Marjorie), Wanda Martin Ouzts (Chip), and Cheryl Martin Leggette (Tyrone); 7 grandchildren and 9 Great grandchildren; She is survived by two very loved siblings; Mrs. Maudie Campbell, sister, and Mr. Gene Smith, brother, both of Lumberton, NC.

Mrs. Dixie was a lifelong member of Broad Ridge Baptist Church.  She often spoke of and lovingly of her church family.

Mrs. Dixie wore many hats and worked several jobs throughout the years but the one that brought her the most joy was homemaker! She took much care and love in fashioning her home.  But cooking and baking were her joy. She spent many hours during various occasions and the holidays cooking for her family making sure each of them found their favorite dishes.  Always an array of cakes and/ or pies existing of at least 7.  These gatherings were her favorite and happiest times.  Nothing pleased her more than a visit with her loved ones. Friends and family were offered something to drink and a treat. She was loved by many nieces and nephews.  She loved them dearly.

In lieu of flowers the family ask to contribute to Broad Ridge Baptist Church or to a charity of your choice.
