WHITEVILLE, NC — Several domestic violence charges, drug offenses, and out-of-county warrants led to bookings at the Columbus County Detention Center between Nov. 5 and Nov. 6, 2026, according to official law enforcement reports.

Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026

• Joseph Lee Murphy, 27, of 168 Godwin Trail, Chadbourn: Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence and Assault on a Female (Held without bond).

• Johnathan Leroy Peppers, 37, of 20415 Beaver Dam, Harbeson, DE: Assaulting an Individual with a Disability (Held without bond).

• Teresa Ann Simko, 43, of 341 Ronald Britt Road, Bladenboro: Possess Methamphetamine (Held without bond).

• Mariah Stuart, 18, of 436 Old Stake Rd., Chadbourn: Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence and Simple Assault (Held without bond).

• James Stucarter Best, 48, of 1204 Rico Rd., Whiteville: Sentenced on two felony counts of Possess Schedule II Controlled Substance ($50,000 secured bond); multiple additional charges including Schedule I possession, maintaining a place for controlled substances, and altering/destroying evidence were dismissed by the court.

• Amy Elizabeth Jernigan, 36, of 1814 Midway Rd., Whiteville: Quick Dip probation hold.

• Jose Gregorio Maravilla Juarez, 28, of 2075 Maco Road, Leland: Resisting a Public Officer ($5,000 secured bond).

• Antonio Lamon McFadden, 47, of 201 Church Street, Chadbourn: Assault on a Female and Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence (Held without bond).

• Vanessa Coretta Pridgen, 49, of 13 Eagle Trail, Lake Waccamaw: Driving While License Revoked (Not Impaired) ($500 secured bond).

• Jason Allen Jacobs, 43, of 6280 N. Chicken Rd., Lumberton: Serving sentence on Robeson County charges of Domestic Violence Protective Order Violation and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

• James Barton, 36, of 132 Exand Rd., Lumberton: Misdemeanor Failure to Appear ($4,000 secured bond).

• Gary Dean Strickland, 62, of 111 Hickory Ridge Dr., Whiteville: Serving weekend sentence.
