Brunswick County, NC — A Southport man has been charged after deputies say county‑owned equipment was taken earlier this month.
According to a Brunswick County Magistrate’s Order, Jeremiah Baley, 47, is accused of removing a Flock camera, solar panel, and pole belonging to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office. The items were valued at $1,650. The alleged offense occurred on September 1, 2026.
Deputies charged Baley with one count of felony larceny in connection with the incident. Flock cameras have faced criticism because they log and store vehicle movement data, and recent audits showing misuse of ALPR searches have intensified calls for stronger oversight.
