Investing in Network Infrastructure and Local Communities
Board President Whitney King highlighted the cooperative’s sustained financial strength and continued investment in regional communications infrastructure. King emphasized that FOCUS Broadband’s growth directly benefits cooperative members through capital credit returns, local grants, charitable giving, and community sponsorships.
“These investments in our network, our members, and our communities reflect what it means to be a cooperative,” King stated in his closing remarks. “As we look ahead, we will continue to be guided by our mission to provide services that add value to the lives of those we serve.”
Expanding Fiber Reach and Modernizing Services
CEO and General Manager Keith Holden outlined major progress over the past year toward providing high-speed fiber-optic service to every cooperative member:
-
Fiber Conversions: More than 4,500 cooperative members were transitioned to direct fiber service over the past 12 months.
-
Coaxial Network Upgrades: Implementation of Remote-PHY technology continues to enhance performance for members still using coaxial connections.
-
Grant-Funded Expansion: Final grant-funded expansion projects are nearing completion, helping extend broadband access across ten counties and adding more than 14,000 new customers to the network.
Holden also detailed the cooperative’s strategic shift away from traditional cable TV toward streaming alternatives, along with network enhancements that include faster entry-level broadband speeds and the introduction of Wi-Fi 7 technology.
“There is still work ahead, but our direction is clear,” Holden remarked. “We will continue investing in our network, supporting our members, and strengthening the communities we call home.”
