NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC — During the May 18 City Council meeting, John Galganski was officially sworn in as the City of North Myrtle Beach’s eighth Fire Chief.

Galganski joined the department in 2023 as Deputy Fire Chief after a long and distinguished fire service career in New Jersey and southeast Virginia. Since arriving in North Myrtle Beach, he has been recognized for his steady leadership, commitment to personnel development, and strong engagement with the community.

City officials noted that Galganski has played a key role in supporting departmental growth and operational readiness over the past year. His appointment marks the next step in the department’s continued expansion as North Myrtle Beach experiences steady population and tourism increases.

The city congratulated Chief Galganski on his new role and expressed confidence in his leadership as the North Myrtle Beach Fire Department moves forward.
