Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Incident Log: September 4th – 8th, 2026

WHITEVILLE, N.C. — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following incidents and reported crimes between Sept. 4 and Sept. 8, 2026, according to official department records.

Breaking, Entering, and Larceny

• East Andrew Jackson Highway (Delco): Breaking and entering reported Sept. 4 at 1:58 a.m. at a residence in the 27000 block.

• Gator Lane (Lake Waccamaw): Larceny of a catalytic converter valued at $600 from a Ford F-250 reported Sept. 4 at 8:54 a.m. at East Columbus Jr./Sr. High School.

• Rough and Ready Road (Chadbourn): Larceny of a Craftsman pressure washer valued at $299 reported Sept. 4 at 5:38 p.m. in the 2200 block.

• Jefferson Road (Lake Waccamaw): Larceny reported Sept. 5 at 5:07 p.m. in the 900 block. Stolen items included a custom Hyper beach cruiser bike ($600), a Craftsman weed eater ($450), a Maytech dryer ($299), and a Whirlpool washer ($300).

• Faulk Lane (Chadbourn): Breaking and entering to terrorize, assault on a female, and property damage to a Kia Optima ($2,000) involving a handgun reported Sept. 6 at 7:14 a.m. in the 10 block.

• Godwin Trail (Chadbourn): Residential burglary reported Sept. 8 at 1:33 p.m. in the 100 block. Stolen property included a 65-inch LG television ($1,000), a 45-inch Roku television ($348), and an antenna box ($60).

• Chair Factory Road (Nakina): Breaking and entering, larceny, and property damage reported Sept. 8 at 4:36 p.m. in the 300 block. Four antique doors ($200) and a security light ($400) were stolen.

• Chadbourn Highway (Chadbourn): Larceny of a Brisa mini-split air conditioning unit valued at $1,000 reported Sept. 8 at 6:09 p.m. in the 5000 block.

Property Damage and Fraud

• Harbour Drive (Tabor City): Obtaining property by false pretense reported Sept. 4 at 5:30 p.m. in the 60 block, involving a Motorola cell phone ($60) and $1,500 taken via the device.

• Peacock Road (Tabor City): Property damage to a GMC Yukon ($1,000) reported Sept. 6 at 1:57 p.m. in the 24000 block.

• Mount Calvary Road (Clarkton): Fraud reported Sept. 8 at 2:27 p.m. in the 200 block.

• Joe Piver Road (Chadbourn): Identity theft involving a Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan reported Sept. 8 at 3:50 p.m. in the 900 block.

• Washington Street (Whiteville): An offense involving a $5,000 U-Haul flatbed trailer reported Sept. 8 at 1:35 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Office.

Assaults and Domestic Incidents

• Old Lumberton Road (Whiteville): Communicating threats reported Sept. 4 at 4:33 p.m. in the 5900 block.

• Hudson Drive (Whiteville): Assault on a female reported Sept. 5 at 5:09 p.m. in the 100 block.

• Old Northeast Road (Lake Waccamaw): Assault on a female, larceny of a .38-caliber Smith & Wesson firearm ($350), and damage to a Honda Civic car window ($150) reported Sept. 6 at 5:43 p.m. in the 3400 block.

• Miller Road (Tabor City): Simple assault reported Sept. 6 at 10:25 p.m. in the 6000 block. A second incident for domestic criminal trespass was reported at the same address on Sept. 7 at 7:42 a.m.

• Godwin Trail (Chadbourn): Communicating threats reported Sept. 8 at 2:52 p.m. in the 100 block.

• Lumber River Campground (Evergreen): Misdemeanor stalking and harassing phone calls reported Sept. 7 at 9:13 p.m.

Facility and Institutional Incidents

• Washington Street (Whiteville): Assault on a government official/employee reported Sept. 4 at 8:49 a.m. at 803 Washington Street. Resisting an officer was reported at a Love Mill Road location later that day at 3:40 p.m.

• Tabor Crossing (Tabor City): Misuse of 911 reported Sept. 5 at 11:07 a.m. at the Tobacco Outlet.

• Prison Camp Road (Whiteville): Possession of a weapon by a prisoner reported Sept. 5 at 3:00 p.m. at the N.C. Department of Corrections facility. A separate incident involving contraband—258 grams of marijuana ($300) and 460 grams of tobacco ($200) brought in via a black Infiniti Q50—and damage to a prison fence ($250) was reported Sept. 7 at 3:30 p.m.
