A young girl died Wednesday evening in Horry County after being struck by a vehicle. The accident happened at 9:59 p.m. at the Cedar Branch Missionary Baptist Church located at 744 Cedar Branch Road, Loris – according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Investigators report that the driver of a Nissan Rogue was backing up when the female who was walking behind the vehicle, was hit. After the impact, the Rogue continued moving and struck the building.
The pedestrian and driver were taken from the scene by EMS. The young girl, now identified the 12-year-old as Kantori Chestnut by Horry County coroner, died at the hospital from her injuries.
The collision remains under investigation.
