BOLTON, NC — The Waccamaw Siouan Tribe will celebrate its heritage and community during the 54th Annual Waccamaw Siouan Powwow, set for October 16–17, 2026, at the tribal grounds on 7239 Old Lake Road in Bolton.
The two‑day cultural gathering will feature traditional dancing, drumming, and ceremonial events honoring the tribe’s identity as the People of the Falling Star. Grand entries are scheduled for Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. A tribal parade will take place Saturday at 11:00 a.m., with lineup beginning at 10:00 a.m. at T & C Services, 286 Jacobs Road in Bolton.
Admission is cash only. Weekend passes are $15.00, and single‑day entry is $10.00. Children 4 and under are admitted free.
This year’s powwow will be led by MC JD Moore, with Arena Director Bo Goins and Head Judge Sandon Jacobs overseeing competition events. Featured dancers include Head Female Dancer Yvonne Jacobs Armstrong and Head Male Dancer Cory Brewington. Host Drum Pine Lodge will provide the central drum for the weekend.
The Waccamaw Siouan Powwow brings a meaningful cultural and economic lift to Bolton and the surrounding area. While Bolton is a small community, the event’s food trucks, craft vendors, and cultural exhibitors draws families from across the region. Visitors often explore nearby businesses in Columbus County, contributing to increased weekend activity for local shops. Schools, civic groups, and community organizations also use the powwow as an educational opportunity, strengthening cultural awareness and deepening connections between tribal and non‑tribal neighbors.
