The following incident reports were logged by the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office between October 2, 2026, and October 5, 2026.

Friday, October 2, 2026

  • Larceny of Watches (Bussy Rd, Hallsboro) – Deputy Timothy Harrington responded to a theft report at 158 Bussy Road. Victim Andrew Benton, 41, reported two Fossil watches stolen, valued at $100 each. No suspect information was provided.

  • Fraud Investigation (Peacock Rd, Tabor City) – Sergeant Pamela Bryan investigated a fraud report at 20253 Peacock Road. Victim Darrel Randolph Daniels, 86, reported a monetary loss of $1,183.13. A 40-year-old female was listed as a suspect.

  • Obtain Property by False Pretense (James B White Hwy S, Whiteville) – Corporal Aaron Dehne responded to Metal Recycling Services of Whiteville regarding an incident of obtaining property by false pretense. The business reported a loss of $1,259.10 in cash. A 56-year-old male was named as a suspect.

  • Property Vandalism & Resisting Arrest (Burnham Ave, Delco) – Deputy Austin Inman responded to 16 Burnham Avenue after a damaged back door ($50 value) was reported by victim Candice Victoria Brown, 34. A 29-year-old male suspect was listed in connection with charges of real property trespass, destruction/vandalism of property, and resisting a public officer.

Saturday, October 3, 2026

  • Major Swindle / False Pretenses (Bill Long Rd, Tabor City) – Deputy Nathan Gilbert investigated a scam/swindle at 445 Bill Long Road. Victim Smith Kallie, 49, reported a financial loss of $11,359.81. Suspect information was not available.

  • Break-In, Fence Damage & Equipment Theft (Hubert White Rd, Chadbourn) – Deputy Joshua Beaman filed a report at 56 Hubert White Road regarding property damage and stolen equipment. Victim Garren Campbell, 30, reported a cut wire fence ($500 damage) and the theft of a blue Mayflower tire changer valued at $1,200. Charges logged include larceny, real property trespass, and property damage.

Monday, October 5, 2026

  • Assault on Government Officials (Prison Camp Rd, Whiteville) – Corporal Christopher Cotton investigated an early morning assault at the Columbus County Detention Center around 12:21 a.m. A 34-year-old male suspect allegedly assaulted officers Anthony Braddy and Evander Holland.

  • Secondary Prison Assault (Prison Camp Rd, Whiteville) – Corporal Christopher Cotton logged a separate assault incident at Columbus Correctional Institution around 3:12 a.m. A 19-year-old male suspect was listed in connection with an assault on officer Roy Long.

  • Stolen Golf Cart (Clarendon Chadbourn Rd, Chadbourn) – Deputy Chandler Huggins responded to 1810 Clarendon Chadbourn Road following the theft of a burgundy EZGO golf cart valued at $2,500. Henery Stevens was listed as the victim.
