BOLIVIA, N.C. — The Brunswick County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to meet Monday, October 19, at 6:00 p.m., with several public hearings planned on land use, property taxes and water policy issues that could affect residents across the county.
The meeting will be held in the Commissioners’ Chambers at the Sandifer Administration Building, located at 30 Government Center Drive in Bolivia.
Among the items on the agenda is a public hearing on Rezoning Case Z-945, involving property near Sunset Beach. Commissioners will consider a request to rezone Tax Parcel 2110002701, located west of 6739 Ocean Highway West (U.S. 17), from a combination of Commercial-Low Density and Medium Density Residential zoning classifications to Commercial-Low Density zoning.
The board will also hold a public hearing on proposed amendments to the county’s Unified Development Ordinance related to House Bill 1222, known as Session Law 2026-30.
Property owners may be particularly interested in another scheduled hearing concerning the 2027 countywide reappraisal process. Commissioners are expected to receive public comments on the proposed schedules of values, standards and rules that will be used in the upcoming revaluation of property throughout Brunswick County.
Water-related matters also make up a significant portion of the agenda.
Commissioners will consider proposed revisions to hydrant bulk water rates for fiscal year 2026-27, adoption of a Hydrant Bulk Water Policy, and new fees that would take effect Jan. 1, 2027.
In a separate public hearing, the board will review proposed updates to Brunswick County’s Water Shortage Response Plan and Water Emergency Ordinance. The proposal would also authorize the county attorney to make administrative changes to those documents.
Members of the public may attend the meeting in person or watch through Brunswick County’s Agendas and Minutes Portal.
