Public showing of “The Fight for Fair Bluff” scheduled for October 9

FAIR BLUFF, NC — Fair Bluff will revisit one of the most defining chapters in its history as residents gather for a community showing of “The Fight for Fair Bluff,” a new documentary produced by Southeastern Community College.
The film traces the town’s struggle through years of storms, displacement, and rebuilding, capturing the determination that has shaped its recovery.
Fair Bluff’s challenges became widely known after the Lumber River surged beyond its banks during Hurricane Matthew in 2016, sending water through downtown businesses, homes, and public buildings. The flooding lingered for days, leaving behind extensive damage and forcing many residents to relocate.
Additional high‑water events in the years that followed slowed rebuilding efforts, requiring long‑term planning, outside assistance, and steady local leadership to restore essential structures and preserve the town’s identity.
The documentary will be shown Friday, October 9 at 6:00 p.m. at the Fair Bluff Baptist Church Family Life Center, 1205 Main Street in Fair Bluff.
The gathering offers an opportunity to honor the past, recognize the progress made, and look toward the future together.
Locals, visitors are all welcome to this free event to reflect and learn about the past and the future of Fair Bluff.
