Erick John Ross - Clemson SC

Erick John Ross of Clemson, South Carolina, met his Savior face to face on Monday, September 7th, 2026.

Erick was born in Greenville, South Carolina, on January 9th, 2001. He graduated summa cum laude from Bob Jones University in 2022 as a double-major in Computer Science and Mathematics, earning the Highest Academic Achievement Award (Highest Scholastic Average over four years) and the Computer Science Award. During his time in undergrad, he placed second in the U.S. at the 2020 IEEExtreme Programming Contest, placed first in the 2021 and 2022 CCSCSE Programming Contests, and won the 2021 & 2022 BJU Scholastic Bowl. He then pursued a doctoral degree in Analytic Number Theory and taught Calculus courses within the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Clemson University, presenting at numerous conferences around the country.

Erick was a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, passionate mathematician, musician, and faithful friend. He was actively involved in his church’s International Student Ministry as the president of Clemson’s “Cross Impact” student organization. He enjoyed playing with his nieces and nephews, solving ‘impossible’ math problems, organizing ultimate frisbee games, volunteering at Christian ministries around the world, and playing his trombone.  He was known for readily volunteering to help people however they needed and sharing his faith with all who knew him.

Erick is survived by his parents, Stephen and Janet Ross of Lake Waccamaw, NC, his siblings, Amanda (Alex) Wright, Bethany Ross, Christina (Justin) Budding, Dakota (Kristina) Ross, and Faith-Ann (Samuel) Ayers, and seven nieces and nephews: Marigold Wright, Gwen Ross, Clover Wright, Hananiah Ross, baby Wright, baby Ross, and baby Budding. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John & Gloria Whitelaw, Don & Betty Ross, Uncle Jonathan Henning, and niece, Iris Ross.

A funeral service will be held at Faith Baptist Church in Delco, NC, on Saturday, September 12th at 10 AM, followed by a private interment with family. A memorial service is planned for 2 PM on Sunday, September 13th at University Baptist Church in Clemson, SC, to celebrate his life and the ways God used him here on earth.
