Horry County, SC — Construction is now underway along Holmestown Road on a county project designed to improve safety and connectivity along the busy corridor.
Crews have started building a new shared‑use path that will run beside the eastbound lane from Highway 707 to the Highway 17 Bypass. The project also includes installation of a new crosswalk at the intersection of Holmestown Road and Scipio Lane, aimed at improving pedestrian access in the area.
County officials say the work is funded through earmarked support from the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism. The traffic impacts are expected to be limited throughout construction, but drivers are urged to use caution and remain alert for crews working along the shoulder. Construction is expected to continue into early 2027.
