Lumberton, NC — According to Sheriff Wilkins in a media release issued Saturday, August 22, 2026, investigators have arrested a Lumberton man in connection with Thursday night’s fatal shooting on Indian Heritage Road.
Cedrione K. McDowell, 22, of Lumberton, was taken into custody Saturday and charged with first‑degree murder, attempted first‑degree murder, and discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle.
He is being held at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.
The charges stem from the death of Kianna T. Jones, 24, of Rowland, and the attempted murder of Martev Gunter of St. Pauls. Deputies responded to the 100 block of Indian Heritage Road around 9:50 p.m. Thursday after receiving a report of an individual shot. Jones was found deceased inside a vehicle. Gunter was not injured during the incident.
Investigators said the U.S. Marshals Carolinas Fugitive Task Force assisted with the arrest. The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Criminal Investigation Divisions continue to investigate.
