BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC — In a continued effort to support local education and honor its leadership legacy, FOCUS Broadband has named Brunswick Community College student Reese Ratcliffe as the 2026 recipient of the Roger A. Cox Memorial Scholarship.

Ratcliffe is currently pursuing an Associate in Arts degree in Health Technology at BCC, with plans to transfer to the University of North Carolina Wilmington to complete her bachelor’s degree in the same field. The endowment supporting her award was created in 2016 to honor the legacy and community dedication of former FOCUS Broadband General Manager Roger Cox. Following his passing, company employees, board members, retirees, corporate partners, and regional cooperatives rallied together to fully fund the endowment within a single month.

Alongside Ratcliffe’s award, FOCUS Broadband announced the official launch of its Class of 2027 Scholarship Program. The provider will award $20,000 in total financial aid, distributed as ten individual $2,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors whose households subscribe to FOCUS Broadband service. Eligible students must submit their applications online at focusbroadband.com/scholarships by the end of the day on Friday, December 4, 2026.
