The Cooking Corner: Pepperoni Pinwheels

Pepperoni Pinwheels

So this week I bring you a treat I learned how to make in the 90’s.  I worked at a small pizzeria in Long Island, New York.  The owner and his dad taught me a lot in the short time they were there.  But this is one that stood the test of time and now I bring it to you.  Your family will thank you later.

Ingredients
16oz Pizza Dough
Pasta Sauce
Sliced Pepperoni
16oz Mozzarella Cheese
1 Cup Pecorino Romano Cheese
Preparation
Prep 1 – Shred your mozzarella.
Prep 2 – Heat oven to 450 degrees.
Prep 3 – Lightly grease a cookie tray.
Directions
Step 1 – Stretch out your pizza dough into a rectangle.

Step 1

Step 2 – Add a couple of ladles of pasta sauce and spread around.

Step 2

Step 3 – Add some pecorino Romano cheese.

Step 3

Step 4 – Add your pepperoni and your mozzarella. I forgot to take a photo of it with just the pepperoni before the cheese. I lined up 56 total pepperoni. 9 across and 7 down in each row. Sorry.

Step 4

Step 5 – Now it’s time to roll it. Do it in phases and make sure it stays as even as possible. When done lie down on side with the seal and pinch the ends closed.

Step 6 – Cut into 3 inch pieces and place on a lightly greased cookie sheet.

Step 6

Step 7 – Top with the rest of your mozzarella and place in the oven for 20 mins. Serve!
